In November 2008 we spent two weeks on the Maldives.
First week we have been in Biyadoo, an inner riff island at the South Male atoll.
Second week we spent at Ellaidoo, an outer riff island at the Ari atoll.
To give you some first impression about the two island we copied some pictures onto this page.
Then some highlights of both islands:
Located in the South Male Atoll not far from main capital Male
Size is approximately 350 time 200 meter
One Hote with around 100 rooms and a dive basis are located at the island
Biyadhoo is an inner reef island with only a bid of current
Because of the location as inner reeed island there are not that many waves but sandy beaches
Underwater you can find some places which are damaged because of coral bleaching and the 2004 tsunami which was striking the Maldives as well
Located is the Ari Atoll
Size is approximately 300 times 280 meter
One hotel with around 112 rooms, including some brand new water bungalows (2008!!!). Furthermore a dive basis is located at the island
Ellaidhoo is an outer reef island with lots of current (and therefore big fish like sharks and rays)
Because of the current wave breakers are installed, otherwise island would be swapped away
Below you can find pictures of the both islands and diving there.
Have fun looking at the pictures and share with us our nice memories.
